As the leaves start to turn with the arrival of October, our thoughts inevitably turn to the tricks, treats, and terrors associated with Halloween. Whether seeking a way to get in a few jump scares or pull out that costume more than once before October 31, spooky season destinations abound near Traditions of Braselton. Attending events or venues in the area that surrounds our community is always an excellent way to get a feel for what it might be like to live here – even if that feeling is FRIGHT! To further inspire you to pay a visit to our 1140-acre master-planned community this Fall, here are just a few happenings and hauntings taking place around Traditions of Braselton in October…
1) Make Your Way to Braselton’s Halloween PATHParade & Carnival – Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
The LifePath in Braselton – showcasing a 10’ wide multi-use path through portions of town – is a major draw to many in and around our community. Featuring decked-out golf carts and neighbors of the two- and four-legged variety in costume, the PathParade kicks off at 10 a.m. – traveling along the LifePath, beginning at Ace Hardware on Highway 211 and turning right onto Mulberry, heading towards 12 Stone Church – Braselton. Prizes will be awarded for the best carts and costumes. To be eligible, entries MUST be fully decorated and in line for judging before 9:30 a.m. After the parade, the carnival kicks off in the Primrose School parking lot with games, inflatables, the Burger 21 food truck, face painting, and more.
2) Venture Out to the Buford Corn Maze and NEW Scream Zone – Open daily through October 31 – weekends only through November 17
With a corn maze at center stage, this family-friendly farmyard also offers a pumpkin patch, pony rides, hayrides, kid activities, and more. Once the sun sets, the curtain opens on the Scream Zone, an all-new 3D experience filled with vampire hunters and undead creatures. The Corn Maze is open Monday – Thursday 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., and Sunday 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. with special hours Oct. 28th – Halloween Day: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Hours for the Scream Zone are extended to Midnight on Fridays and Saturdays in October.
3) Brave the Haunted House at Fearopolis in Commerce – Fridays and Saturdays in October – 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Touted as the place where nightmares come to life, Fearopolis invites you to make your way through 20+ rooms of monsters and mayhem. New this year is the opportunity to hop aboard our paintball-equipped bus as you battle through waves of zombies in an adrenaline-fueled adventure. You can also combine your experiences – for a haunted house/zombie apocalypse double-whammy with your choice of mini golf or go-karts at neighboring Funopolis.
4) Design a Scarecrow to be Displayed in Downtown Jefferson – through November 3, with winners to be announced November 4
Individuals, families, local businesses, and organizations will show off their creativity by designing scarecrows to line the streets, sidewalks, and flowerbeds throughout the charming historic Jefferson downtown area. Best of all, there’s no fee for entry! All scarecrows must be placed by October 4, and voting begins on October 5. Even if you don’t design a scarecrow, you can still join the fun by voting for your favorites on the Discover Jefferson Facebook page. Voters will be entered for a chance to win $20 “downtown dollars.” But the fun doesn’t end there! Downtown Jefferson will also play host to a Trunk-or-Treat event at the Gordon Street Lawn on Saturday, October 12, from 4:00 – 7:30 p.m. – complete with a Car Show, Vendors, Hayrides, crafts, inflatables, a visit from the Sanderson Sisters and Hocus Pocus movie under the stars after dark.
5) Head to Athens for the Wild Rumpus Halloween Parade & Spectacle – Saturday, October 26, starting at 8:00 p.m.
A beloved annual tradition in Downtown Athens for the last 16 years, the Wild Rumpus features a parade and royal ball after-party with colorfully costumed characters at every turn. Admission is free but proceeds from sponsorships, an online auction, and donations benefit the Athens Area Homeless Shelter. The Wild Rumpus Parade will start on West Hancock Ave. adjacent to Creature Comforts Brewing Co. before winding through the downtown area, ending on W. Washington St. from Lumpkin St. to Pulaski St. for a massive spectacle with multiple stages, sound & lights, trapeze and pole performers, fire performers, dance and step troupes, installations, and a MASSIVE DJ THROW DOWN in the street!!! Once the Dance Party and Spectacle end at 11 pm, the 21+ Royal Ball After-Party kicks off at Paloma Park and lasts until 2 a.m.
